DailyFaceoff/Corsica NHL Bets (November 1st)

With only one game on last night’s Halloween slate, the betting options were obviously limited. The Corsica Hockey bet predictions liked the Blackhawks a lot last night, which unfortunately resulted in this post going 0-2 for the first time this season. The Canucks defeated Chicago 4-2. The Blackhawks failed to cover their -1.5 goal spread (highest value) and obviously playing them on the money-line did not work out either (highest probability). Despite the goose egg, this post still sits at a formidable 16-9 (64%) on the season.
Tonight, the NHL is making up for their inactivity last night and then some. There are a whopping 13 games today, but only 12 on the main slate with the Jets and Panthers playing in Finland this afternoon. The faith in this post should be restored tonight; the highest value and probability bets are much more solidified with 12 games to choose from.

Highest Value
Penguins @ Islanders — Over/Under | Under 6.5
These two teams will play out the second half of a home-and-home series tonight in Pittsburgh. The Islanders surprisingly had the upper-hand when they met in Long Island on Tuesday, besting the Penguins by a score of 6-3. The onslaught of goals from both teams helped drive tonight’s over/under all the way up to 6.5 goals.
Despite their struggles to maintain puck possession, the Isles are actually fifth in the league in goals against with just 2.55 per game. Much of that can be attributed to the success their goaltenders have had early on. Thomas Greiss is expected to get the nod for the Islanders tonight. The 32-year-old netminder has been dynamite so far this season, posting a .933 SV% and 2.27 GAA in six appearances. Pittsburgh and the Islanders both boast a PK% over 80% on the season, which should also help keep the scoring relatively low in this one.
Highest Probability
Sabres @ Senators — Spread | Ottawa +1.5
According to the Corsica Hockey bet predictions, the most likely bet to hit tonight is the Senators covering a +1.5 goal spread against Buffalo. After a surprisingly hot start, Ottawa has cooled off to the tune of a 4-5-2 record. The Sabres have been able to maintain a 6-4-2 record despite a -4 goal differential. Simply put, while Ottawa is not a particularly strong hockey team, the spread between these two teams should be less than two goals. Craig Anderson has performed admirably for the Sens so far this season, registering a .923 SV% at even strength. Penalties have killed Ottawa all season but Buffalo’s middling 17th-ranked powerplay eases those concerns tonight. The difference between these two teams is negligible, which is why Corsica is so confident in Ottawa covering a +1.5 goal spread.
