Daily Faceoff DFS Value Plays – December 13th

We’ve got a nice five-game slate tonight, and several players at each position are jumping out as great value options who are either in critical roles for their team or proving great production.
This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, and three punt defencemen options.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent what a player’s performance would look like on average if that matchup were played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
Valtteri Puustinen (W, PIT) – @ MTL – (DK-$2,600 / $3,000)
DFO Projection: DK-7.75 / FD-11.25
Puustinen was recalled just days ago but is already making an impact for the Penguins and is way too cheap at his current salary, averaging 7.2 DKFPPG in his first two games. He’s skating on the Penguins’ second line, which has the second-highest matchup score on the slate and is on their first power play unit.
Alex Killorn (W, ANA) – @ NYI – (DK-$3,800 / $3,700)
DFO Projection: DK-8.41 / FD-10.89
It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Killorn this season, but he has two goals and four points in his last five games and a great matchup tonight alongside Leo Carlsson and Troy Terry against the Islanders.
Morgan Geekie (C, BOS) – @ NJD – (DK-$2,600 / $3,700)
DFO Projection: DK-5.71 / FD-7.48
Geekie has been elevated to the Bruins’ top line and is skating alongside Jake DeBrusk and David Pastrnak. He offers great salary relief despite not having the best matchup.
Mike Reilly (D, NYI) – vs. ANA – (DK-$3,400 / $5,200)
DFO Projection: DK-8.73 / FD-11.35
Reilly has a goal and four points in nine games, 25 shots on goal and nine blocks. His 12.2 SOG/60 is the highest among any defencemen on the slate tonight. He might not get the most ice time, averaging 13.7 per game, but he is making the most of it.
David Savard (D, MTL) – vs. PIT – (DK-$3,400 / $3,500)
DFO Projection: DK-6.61 / FD-8.57
Savard blocked five shots against the Predators on Sunday in his first game back from injury and could easily hit that mark again tonight.
Cam Talbot (G, LAK) – vs WPG – (DK-$8,100 / $8,200)
DFO Projection: DK-13.6 / FD-18.81
Talbot is worth every penny tonight and has been all season. He’s a pay-up option in the crease tonight, but we’re giving the Kings a 63.4 percent chance of winning this game. He’s as solid as they come.
Top 3 Punt Defencemen
- Ilya Lyubushkin ($2,800/$3,600): DK-4.96 / FD-6.15
- Kevin Shattenkik ($3,100/$3,600): DK-6.18 / FD-7.77
- Sebastian Aho ($2,700/$3,700): DK-5.3 / FD-6.89
