DailyFaceoff DFS Value Plays – December 22th
We’ve got a small four-game slate tonight, and several players at each position are jumping out as great value options who are either in critical roles for their team or proving great production.
This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, and three punt defencemen options.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
Nick Foligno (W, CHI) – vs. MTL – (DK-$3,400 / FD -$4,000)
DFO Projection: DK-8.45 / FD-11.08
Foligno has put up a solid 15 points in 31 games this year with Chicago, and is popping in the DFO DFS charts today, as he and his linemates on CHI3 have a great matchup against Montreal. Despite being one of the worst at driving play offensively, despite 3.1 GF/60 at 5v5, they take on a lot of MTL2, the second worst defensive line on the slate.
Josh Anderson (W, MTL) – @ CHI – ($2,800 / $4,200)
DFO Projection: DK-7.17 / FD-8.94
MTL2 and Anderson have a great matchup against Chicago tonight, and Anderson is popping on both sites. He has strong shot rates, and has a .8 ixG/60 to iG/60 rate, the second highest of any forward on the slate, meaning he’s due to score some goals.
Darnell Nurse (D, EDM) – @ NYR – ($4,900 / $5,900)
DFO Projection: DK-8.6 / FD-10.63
A slightly better play on DraftKings, than FanDuel, but Nurse is a strong option on both sites tonight in what should be an uptempo game between the Oilers and Rangers.
Jeff Petry (D, DET) – vs. PHI – ($3,500 / $4,700)
DFO Projection: DK-6.91 / FD-8.9
Petry is a strong “get different” play on D tonight, projecting for much lower ownership than teammates Moritz Seider and Shayne Gostisbehere, despite being the best value play of the three.
James Reimer (G, DET) – vs. PHI – (DK $8,000 / $7,000)
DFO Projection: DK-13.7 / FD-18.5
Tough pickings for goaltending tonight, but Reimer is popping as a great value play on both sites, despite higher ownership. Connor Hellebuyck looks like a good play on DraftKings, too.
