DailyFaceoff DFS Value Plays – January 5th
We’ve got a small 3-game slate tonight with three heavy favourites, and several players at each position are jumping out as great value options who are either in critical roles for their team or providing great production.
This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, and three punt defencemen options.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
Alexander Holtz (W, NJD) – vs. CHI – (DK-$3,400 / FD -$4,400)
DFO Projection: DK-6.5 / FD-8.63
The New Jersey Devils’ top two lines fill the top of the value charts tonight, and on a three-game slate like this, we have to look else where for some lower owned value. Holtz fits the bill on the Devils’ third line. He and his linemates have as good of a matchup as his compadres on the top two lines, and is producing well with five assists in his last 10 games.
Trevor Zegras (C, ANA) – vs. WPG – ($4,700 / $4,100)
DFO Projection: DK-8.7 / FD-11.2
This isn’t an excellent play by any means, but if you’re fading Winnipeg in a lineup, Zegras is a solid value option tonight. He projects for low ownership, and has two goals and four points in his last 10 games, averaging 6.8 DKFPPG. He’s highest rated non-Devils forward on FanDuel.
Luke Hughes (D, NJD) – vs. CHI – ($4,500 / $5,200)
DFO Projection: DK-6.8 / FD-11.9
Hughes projects as the highest value defenceman on DraftKings, and third highest on FanDuel, while appearing to be the fifth highest-owned defenceman on the night. He and the Devils should have no issue blowing out the Blackhawks tonight.
Alex Vlasic (D, CHI) – @ NJD – ($3,400 / $3,700)
DFO Projection: DK-6.4 / FD-8.1
Vlasic blocks a load of shots, and that’s where his value will lie tonight. On a slate where the Devils will fire a ton of them, Vlasic will be live for the block bonus on DraftKings.
