DailyFaceoff DFS Value Plays – January 8th
We’ve got a small four-game slate tonight with three heavy favourites, and several players at each position are jumping out as great value options who are either in critical roles for their team or providing great production.
This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, and three punt defencemen options.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
Conor Garland (W, VAN) – @ NYR – (DK-$3,200 / FD -$4,700)
DFO Projection: DK-6.72 / FD-8.5
On small slates like these, we have to find places to get different and Conor Garland provides a chance to do so. He projects well on both sites, and he and his linemates have a matchup score of 100 on the DFS Charts, the highest possible.
Rickard Rakell (W, PIT) – @ PHI – ($4,300 / $5,600)
DFO Projection: DK-9.02 / FD-11.75
The Penguins’ top line will have a tougher matchup tonight against a defensively sound Flyers team, but they’re still too hard to ignore. They have the highest offensive score rank on the slate, according to DFO projections, and Rakell has averaged 11.4 DKFPPG over his last 10.
Thomas Harley (D, DAL) – @ MIN – ($4,500 / $6,100)
DFO Projection: DK-9.9 / FD-12.8
Despite an elevated salary, Harley is DFO’s top value defenceman for DraftKings and the fourth-best on FanDuel. He’ll munch minutes with Miro Heiskanen out and has already been producing, averaging 9.3 DKFPPG in 35 games this year.
Carson Soucy (D, VAN) – @ NYR – ($3,900 / $4,200)
DFO Projection: DK-8.0 / FD-10.4
Soucy is a great option on both sites projecting well, and should have next to no ownership. He’s blocked 7.5 shots per hour among all defencemen on the slate, the fourth-highest mark, and DFO projects him to hit the bonus on DraftKings tonight.
