Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn achieved a significant milestone on Tuesday night, as he’s played in his 1,200th game in his NHL career in a matchup against the New York Rangers.

Benn becomes the second player in Stars franchise history to hit the milestone, with Mike Modano being the only other to do so, playing 1,459 games. He is now one of 138 players in NHL history to hit the milestone, although whether he was the 137th or 138th is up in the air as Ottawa Senators winger David Perron also hit the milestone on the same night in a game with the same start time. Benn is also only the 28th player in NHL history to play 1,200 games for a single franchise.

This is the second milestone that Benn has hit in the last week, as he also scored his 400th goal last Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers. He’s one of 113 players to hit that mark, and the second player in Stars history to do so, also joining Modano.

Benn’s 1,200th game came a bit later into the season than he likely expected at the start of the year, as he missed the first 19 games of the season after he suffered from a collapsed lung during training camp. Since returning, he’s been producing at an excellent rate with three goals and three assists for six points in seven games prior to Tuesday, a scoring pace that would have put him in the 70-point range over a full 82-game season for just the second time in eight seasons.

Now in his 17th season with the Stars, Benn entered Tuesday’s game with 402 goals and 560 assists for 962 points. Benn also won the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s leading scorer in the 2014-15 season, where he had 35 goals and 52 assists for 87 points in 82 games. Benn also has 28 goals and 52 assists for 80 points in 120 playoff games, which is also second behind Modano for the most games played in Stars history.

Benn was a fifth-round draft pick by the Stars in 2007, selected 129th overall. He has the most points and games played by a player selected 129th overall, and has the second-most points (behind Alexander Mogilny) and second-most games played (behind Ray Ferraro) among players selected in the fifth round.
