There’s no player in the NHL as dominant as Mikko Rantanen is right now.

The Dallas Stars forward has been a force to be reckoned through the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Rantanen has recorded at least three points in five of his last six games, recording two hat tricks during that span. After a one-goal, two-assist performance in a 5-2 Game 3 win over the Winnipeg Jets Sunday night, the Stars now have a 2-1 series lead over the Jets in their second-round series.

On Monday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss Rantanen’s playoff run and how the management team from the Colorado Avalanche must feel at this point.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Man, it’s Mikko Rantanen’s world and we’re all just living in it. Ten points already in Round 2 of the playoffs for Rantanen, and he chipped in another three-point performance Sunday night. He’s now got tow more points than anyone in these playoffs. There was a stretch where for 13 straight Dallas goals, he factored into it.

The Jets have played well, they just can’t stop Mikko, but they’ve stopped everyone else on Dallas.

Frank Seravalli: That line isn’t going to work on anyone, anymore. In Game 1, you said Connor Hellebuyck had a great night, except for stopping Mikko Rantanen. Well, then that doesn’t count. You don’t get an “almost good night.”

Rantanen has been on fire, and it’s been incredible to watch. I hope that Chris MacFarland and Joe Sakic from the Avalanche have set up some filters on their social media, or they just go outside and play golf.

For some perspective, you mentioned the 13 goals in a row: the previous record was nine, held by Mario Lemieux. That’s not a nothing record by any stretch of the imagination. What’s that up to now, 15 of the last 17 goals? It’s a banana stat, and it shows you how dominant he’s been. The clear, clear Conn Smythe Trophy leader at this juncture of the playoffs.
