A young center is set to return to play.

On Tuesday, the Dallas Stars placed forward Harrison Scott on waivers for the purpose of sending him down to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Texas Stars.

That said, Scott has been made available to the other 31 teams in the NHL.

Scott started the 2026-27 season on the non-roster/injured list, as we was dealing with an ailment during the preseason. Now, it looks like he’s healthy enough to return to action, continuing his development down in the minors.

The 26-year-old is coming off an exceptional rookie season with Texas. In 72 games, he posted 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points. He helped the Stars finish third in the Central Division, though the team was ousted by the eventual Western Conference champion Chicago Wolves in the division semifinals. Scott failed to register a point in the five-game series.

Scott has posted 32 points in 78 regular-season games with the Stars, along with one goal in 19 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Prior to this professional career, the San Jose native had a solid collegiate career. Across five seasons, three of which came at Bentley University before two years at Maine, Scott scored 45 goals and 88 points in 140 games. He helped the Black Bears reach the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25 after the team clinched the Hockey East Championship, where Scott was named to the HEA All-Tournament Team.

Scott is entering the first season of a two-year, two-way contract extension that he signed back in June. The deal carries an NHL cap hit of $875,000, with a minor-league salary of $100,000 for this season, along with a guaranteed salary of $115,000. Those numbers bump up to $150,000 (AHL) and $165,000 (guaranteed) next year.

Texas has had a bumpy start to the young season, going 1-2-0-1 through the first two weeks of play.

The only player placed on waivers on Monday, Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Helge Grans, cleared on Tuesday. He can now be assigned to the Flyers’ primary affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
