Dallas Stars sign Matthew Seminoff to three-year, entry-level contract

The Kamloops to Dallas connection continues.
Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill announced Wednesday that the Stars have signed Kamloops Blazers forward Matthew Seminoff to a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal will kick off in 2023-24.

Seminoff has tallied a career-high 31 goals and 51 assists for 82 points in 62 games this season while playing for the Blazers in the Western Hockey League. He sits third on the team in points trailing Minnesota Wild prospect Caedan Bankier, fellow Stars prospect and Blazers superstar, former CHL Player of the Year, and Logan Stankoven.
Seminoff was named the CHL First Star on March 15th after recording a historic four-goal, eight-point night in a monster 11-1 win over the Victoria Royals. He notched his first-ever four-goal game, and his second WHL hat trick that night. He boasted 16 points in the week of March 7-18.
The 19-year-old was drafted in the sixth round (No. 179) of the 2022 NHL Draft. While he was born in Leesburg, Virginia, he grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and played his minor hockey with the prestigious Burnaby Winter Club. In 2018-19 he tallied 52 points in 32 games. Seminoff made his WHL debut in 2019-20, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, his season was cut short, playing just 48 games. Throughout his WHL career, he has registered 73 goals and 97 assists for 170 points in 196 games.
Seminoff and the Blazers embark on their WHL playoff journey this Friday against the Vancouver Giants. The Blazers are set to host the 2023 Memorial Cup, which runs from May 26-June 4. The Blazers boast nine NHL draft picks, seven of who are signed to NHL contracts which include Seminoff, Stankoven, Olen Zellweger, Fraser Minten, Caedan Bankier, Kyle Masters, and Ryan Hofer.
