Dallas Stars sign Mason Marchment to four-year contract

The Dallas Stars have signed forward Mason Marchment to a four-year contract, according to a report by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. The contract reportedly carries a cap hit of approximately $4.5 million.

Marchment, 27, scored 18 goals and 47 points in 54 games with the Florida Panthers last season. He added one goal in four playoff appearances with the Panthers.

An undrafted forward out of the Ontario Hockey League, Marchment joined the Toronto Maple Leafs’ system in 2015 and made four NHL appearances with the team in 2019–20 before being traded to Florida for Denis Malgin.

After scoring two goals and 10 points in 33 games with the Panthers in 2020–21, Marchment exploded in 2021–22. Despite averaging only 14:07 (one second less than in 2020–21), Marchment scored 47 points, took 121 shots, and threw 114 hits in 54 games.

Marchment will join Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, Joe Pavelski, Radek Faksa, Roope Hintz, Denis Gurianov, Luke Glendening, Joel Kiviranta, Jacob Peterson, Tanner Kero, and Marian Studenic under contract for next season in Dallas. The Stars also have Jason Robertson as a restricted free agent.

In 91 career games with the Maple Leafs and Panthers, Marchment has scored 20 goals and 58 points. The 6’4″, 209-pound winger hails from Uxbridge, Ontario and is the son of former NHL player and San Jose Sharks scout Bryan Marchment, who passed away last week at age 53.
