Danton Heinen out for Bruins in Game 6 with lower-body injury

According to head coach Jim Montgomery, Boston Bruins’ forward Danton Heinen will miss Game 6 against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a lower-body injury.
Heinen is listed as day-to-day.
Danton Heinen is day-to-day and will not play Game 6, per Montgomery.
Heinen has played all five games of the series, tallying one assist and a minus-1 rating for Boston. The 28-year-old has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 45 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, 38 of which have come with the Bruins.
Heinen’s best playoff performance came with Boston in 2019 when he recorded eight points (two goals, six assists) and finished plus-7 in 24 games on the way to the Stanley Cup Final. The Bruins lost in seven games to the St. Louis Blues.
Heinen was then traded to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Nick Ritchie on Feb. 24, 2020, but eventually found his way back to Boston, signing as a free agent on Oct. 30, 2023.
According to the Bruins’ lines in morning skate on Thursday, John Beecher will be replacing Heinen on the fourth line with Jesper Boqvist and Pat Maroon.
Beecher made his playoff debut in Game 1 of the series and has played four games during these playoffs, recording one goal in Game 2.
The Bruins are now in a heated series against the Maple Leafs. After jumping up 3-1 with consecutive wins, Boston allowed Toronto back in the series with a Game 5 win.
Matthew Knies’ overtime goal in Game 5 gave the Maple Leafs hope. Now, the Bruins will have another chance to advance to the second round with Game 6 coming from Toronto on Thursday.
Toronto will once again be without their leading scorer, Auston Matthews, who left Game 4 early and missed Game 5 with an illness. He was ruled out for Game 6.
