Kraken trade David Goyette to Flyers for Devin Kaplan

In a minor one-for-one transaction announced on Thursday afternoon, the Seattle Kraken traded center prospect David Goyette to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for right wing prospect Devin Kaplan.
Goyette, 22, collected just three goals and 10 points in 51 games with the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds during the 2025-26 regular season. The Kraken originally selected the 5’11” center in the second round (No. 61 overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.
Kaplan, 22, was drafted by the Flyers with the No. 69 pick in 2022, eight spots after the Kraken selected Goyette. The 6’3″ winger recorded five goals, 13 points, and 62 penalty minutes in 49 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2025-26.
Both Goyette and Kaplan are entering the final years of their entry-level contracts and can become restricted free agents in 2027.
A standout point producer during his junior career with the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves, Goyette — who hails from Saint-Jerome, Que. — turned pro with the Kraken organization on a full-time basis in 2024-25, scoring 18 points in 54 games as an AHL rookie.
Kaplan, who is from Bridgewater, N.J., came up through the U.S. National Team Development Program before heading to Boston University in the 2022-23 season. Across three seasons at Boston University, Kaplan racked up 25 goals and 64 points in 115 games; he signed his ELC with the Flyers and made his NHL debut at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Both players in the deal are currently in the AHL and will swap farm affiliations, with Kaplan heading to Coachella Valley and Goyette reporting to Lehigh Valley. Their respective NHL franchises will both be in action on Thursday evening, with Philadelphia taking on the New Jersey Devils at 7:00 p.m. Eastern and the Kraken paying the Calgary Flames a visit at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
