The Detroit Red Wings have acquired goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic from the Carolina Hurricanes.

The deal was first reported by The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the return is a third-round pick and goaltender Jonathan Bernier.

Nedeljkovic, 25, emerged last year and posted some really strong numbers with the Hurricanes last year. In 23 games played, he posted a 15-5-3 record, a .932 save percentage and a 1.90 GAA.

According to our own Frank Seravalli, Nedeljkovic, who was an RFA, was believed to be asking for a salary from the Hurricanes in the $3.5-million range.
