Shoulder surgery will sideline Detroit Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana for the next four months, the club confirmed Thursday.

Head coach Jeff Blashill confirmed the news and that the injury would keep him out at least four months.

Vrana was injured just 10 minutes into the first Red Wings practice last Saturday.

The 25-year-old sniper was acquired by the Red Wings at the trade deadline in a massive deal with the Washington Capitals. Vrana appeared in 11 games last year with the Red Wings after the trade scoring a massive eight goals and 11 points.
