Red Wings’ Lucas Raymond out day-to-day with upper-body injury

A key part of the lineup in Hockeytown is out of action.
When speaking to the media, Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan revealed that forward Lucas Raymond will not be in the lineup when the team hosts the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night and is considered day-to-day.
Per Coach McLellan, Lucas Raymond (upper body) will not play tonight and is considered day-to-day.

Raymond suffered an upper-body injury during the Red Wings’ matinee matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. He exited the contest after taking a hard hit into the boards from Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev in the second period. The Swedish winger looked to have been favoring his right side when leaving the ice.
Raymond assisted on captain Dylan Larkin’s goal late in the first period against Toronto. Raymond ended up registering 7:58 of ice time across 13 shifts, with an even plus/minus.
With some jumbling of the lines, it looks like Mason Appleton will get bumped to the top line with Larkin and rookie Emmitt Finnie. James van Riemsdyk has been added to the first power-play unit heading into the matchup with the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Through three games this season, Raymond has scored two goals and three points. He found the back of the net twice, including scoring the game-winning goal against the Maple Leafs in a 6-3 win in Detroit this past Saturday. The 23-year-old has averaged 15:30 of ice time per game, with a +3 rating.
Raymond is in his second season of his eight-year contract extension that he signed with the Wings in September 2024. The deal carries a cap hit of $8.075 million through the 2031-32 season.
The Red Wings (2-1-0) are kicking off a three-game homestand on Wednesday. The team also faces the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday, before welcoming the Edmonton Oilers to Motown on Sunday.
