He’s not the only former Red Wings star who continues to work in the organization. Lidstrom joins Steve Yzerman, the teams executive vice-president, as well as Niklas Kronwell (European player development), Jiri Fischer (associate director of player development) and Dan Cleary (assistant director of player development).
Drafted by the team in the third round of the 1989 Draft, Lindstrom played 1564 games over 20 years scoring 264 goals and 1142 points winning four Stanley Cups and seven Norris Trophies in that time. Upon his retirement in 2012 Lindstrom immediately stepped into a role as a scout with the club spending three years doing so.
The first European player to win a Norris, he also was a 12-time all-star winning a Conn Smythe Trophy in 2002 and an Olympic gold medal with Sweden in 2006.
Arguably his most impressive feat? Lidstrom became the oldest player to win the Norris in 2011 at an astounding 41-years old.
