On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff Live, host Frank Seravalli gave his predictions for the next dominoes to fall during what has been a rowdy week of NHL trades.

Seravalli feels that with costs for rental players skyrocketing and the trade deadline just days away, certain teams will consider leveraging primed stars for hefty returns.

Frank Seravalli: All of these expensive prices have led to a number of teams considering their prospects of competing in the playoffs and looking at the market to ask “what can we get for this guy?”

I’ll give you a few examples. The Detroit Red Wings want to be in the playoffs, they want to play meaningful games in march, but they’re also curious. What is the market for Tyler Bertuzzi? What is it for Jakub Vrana and some of these other guys? We saw they re-signed Jake Walman for 3 years at $3.4 million AAV, he’s off the board. They are closing in, we believe, on an extension for Dylan Larkin. Progress has been made there and that would be a nice piece of business for Steve Yzerman.

A couple of other teams, quickly. For the Seattle Kraken, Carson Soucy is on our trade board; they are thinking a first-rounder and more for him based on the defensemen that have moved. Morgan Geekie up front and Will Borgen on the backend could garner interest.

The Florida Panthers are curious about what the market would look like for Sam Reinhart or Sam Bennett.

For the Philadelphia Flyers, we have talked about Kevin Hayes being high on our trade targets board, he is in the top three. Ivan Provorov’s name is also generating significant buzz in recent days. If teams are paying this much for rentals, how much more would it cost them to get a player like this who has term, cost control, and certainty?

Those are some names and teams to keep an eye on over the next 48 hours. I have called it NHL’s wild card week and with some of the names who have been moved like Tyson Barrie and Jonathan Quick, that’s for good reason.
