Detroit Red Wings sign Alexandre Doucet to a three-year, Entry-Level Contract

The Detroit Red Wings announced Wednesday that they have signed Halifax Mooseheads forward and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) leading goal scorer Alexandre Doucet to a three-year, entry-level contract. According to our friends at CapFriendly, the contract is worth $950,000 AAV.

Doucet, 21, has spent time this season with the Val-d’Or Foureurs and the Mooseheads in the QMJHL racking up a league-leading 45 goals, and 44 assists for 89 points in 58 games. Doucet has also notched 11 powerplay goals, and eight shorthanded goals and possesses a shooting percentage of 26.9%. Doucet was acquired by the Mooseheads ahead of the QMJHL Trade Deadline; since joining the club he has tallied 36 points (18 goals, 18 assists) in 24 games. Doucet joined a Mooseheads club that is full of talent with the likes of Columbus Blue Jackets prospect and QMJHL points leader Jordan Dumais leading the charge. This is a club that will make a push to win and represent the QMJHL at the 2023 Memorial Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia. The Sherbrooke, Quebec product was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 QMJHL Entry Draft and has since risen to become of the top players in the league. throughout his QMJHL career, he has totalled 221 points (95 goals, 126 assists), 78 penalty minutes and a 20.4 shooting percentage in 228 games.

The undrafted winger will finish off his QMJHL career in Halifax this season before embarking on his journey to NHL training camp. If he impresses, he could even get an extended look by the Red Wings ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. Expect Doucet to being his development with either the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League or the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.
