— Detroit Red Wings (@DetroitRedWings) September 15, 2025In the release video of the cool sweaters, the team used past and present superstars. Captain Dylan Larkin, along with teammates Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane, put on the new gear, while franchise legends Darren McCarty, Mickey Redmond and Vladimir Konstantinov were also seen in the clip.
The new jerseys feature the throwback winged wheel that is being showcased in the 100th anniversary logo, although it leaves out the ‘100,’ highlighting the old-school logo that the team used throughout the ’30s and into the ’50s. The red and cream colors that are also being utilized through this ceremonial season are the main colors on the uniform, giving the outfit a “vintage” look. The captain’s emblem, worn by Larkin, has a brown leather crest, adding to the old school vibes of the sweater.

The jerseys might look familiar to some. The Red Wings donned a red and cream-colored sweater for the 2014 Winter Classic against the Toronto Maple Leafs. That jersey famously had the word ‘Detroit’ soaring across the chest above the logo that the team is using throughout this season.
Even the CCM logo on the team’s helmets is the logo the famous hockey gear company used back in the day.
All in all, these are incredibly well-thought-out jerseys to commemorate a significant season for the Original Six franchise. The Red Wings are a team that continues to look to the future, but is sure to remember the past. With an expected laundry list of special events this coming year, including the retirement of Sergei Fedorov’s No. 91, the 2025-26 season should be a special one for the team and its fans.
