DFO Rundown – Ep. 8: Our first look at the 2021 NHL Trade Deadline

The guys are back for a new episode of The DFO Rundown and unlike the other seven episodes of the pod, this week they have no guest. It’s just 30-minutes of straight-up hockey talk with the latest on the trade market, who’s going to be selling, and a new round of ‘Buy or Sell.’

Before starting this episode, we offered our condolences to the Gretzky family after the passing of Wayne’s father Walter, who was a hockey icon. Frank shared a story of the hockey legend and talked about why he was so loved. From there, the episode kicked off with Frank and Jason getting into some talk about the looming trade deadline and whether or not teams will be forced to stand pat due to budget constraints. They also touched on Tony DeAngelo, the New Jersey Devils, and the struggling Dallas Stars.
They also dug into Frank’s recent Trade Bait Board and discussed names like Mattias Ekholm, David Savard, Sam Bennett, and Jake Virtanen. Jason also unleashed a rant about the NHL changing their draft age.
They wrapped up this week’s episode also brought a fresh edition of ‘Buy or Sell’ as Tyler Yaremchuk jumped in to hit the guys with five big questions from around the league, including one about a potential Taylor Hall trade to a Canadian city.
