DFO Stacks (11/28)

In this article I will give you two elite stacks and two value stacks. Note: I easily could have wrote up Tampa 1 and Edmonton 1 here but those are too obvious so I’m going to give you some other options.

Elite

Predators 1

Sure, the Chicago Blackhawks scored seven goals last night but it was against the hapless Ducks and not that it’s a far trip but Chicago did have to travel to Nashville after the game. If you know anything about me I love to target against teams playing back to backs on the road. On top of that Anton Forsberg will most likely be in net for the Hawks tonight and let’s be honest, they’re not a powerhouse defensively. I love using Nashville’s top line at home and this isn’t an exception, the line of Viktor Arvidsson – Ryan Johansen – Filip Forseberg are one of my favorite targets tonight. It appears RyJo is finally getting his legs under him after starting the season off a tad shaky but has now started to score. They all share powerplay time together which is a boost. I would go either Roman Josi or PK Subban on the blue line depending on power play correlation. Mattias Ekholm is getting very pricey but he does see top pair minutes so he could be worth a play as well.

Rangers 1

I try not to be a homer but I find myself writing up the Rangers twice in the same article….welp. I love this matchup against the Panthers who are on a back to back and are missing top line winger Evgenii Dadonov. James Reimer gets the start in net for the Cats and in his last three starts he has allowed nine goals on 59 shots which is good for a 0.847 save percentage. That’s why I have no issue running out the top line of Chris Kreider – Mika Zibanejad – Pavel Buchnevich tonight. They are a tad pricey for their lack of production the past two games, however a matchup with Reimer is just what the doctor ordered. I would use Kevin Shattenkirk on the blue line.

Value

Flames 2

The Flames get a home matchup against the Maple Leafs tonight which means the 3M line of Michael Frolik – Mikael Backlund – Matthew Tkachuk will most certainly draw the Mathews line. This really doesn’t concern me because this line always draws top defensive assignments and always has the most defensive zone starts, however, I like this matchup because Toronto is a very poor defensive team. They’re coming off a game against Colorado where they had one goal and three assists as a line and I would expect that kind of production to continue tonight. I would use Dougie Hamilton on the blue line.

Rangers 3

I don’t need to repeat myself with how awful James Reimer has been in his past three starts so with the Rangers being home the line of Mats Zuccarello – JT Miller – Michael Grabner will most certainly avoid the top defensive matchups from Florida who struggle defensively as it is. Facing depth of a banged up Florida and a back up goalie is a perfect storm for this third line, which arguably could be a second line on a lot of NHL teams. If you want to make it a full stack I would use Brady Skjei on the blue line.
