DFS Lines to Target: 01/07/20

It’s a busy Tuesday night in the NHL with 12 games on the slate. I’ve highlighted my favorite high-priced, medium-priced and value stacks to help you out. Best of luck!

High-Priced

Washington 1 – Alex Ovechkin ($8,100), Nicklas Backstrom ($6,400), Tom Wilson ($4,800)

Washington’s top line has a great matchup tonight going up against a Senators team that has given up at least five goals in three straight losses. This trio has a lethal 57.52 CF% this season and will be matched up against Ottawa’s Tkachuk and Pageau line, which is getting outchanced at five-on-five.

Backstrom owns a five-game point streak and Wilson has five points in his last seven outings. Ovechkin is his usual dangerous self this season with 24 goals and 40 points in 43 contests thus far. When you consider Ottawa’s defensive struggles of late, there isn’t a better high-priced option tonight than Washington 1.

Medium-Priced

Calgary 2 – Johnny Gaudreau ($6,400), Sean Monahan ($6,200), Mikael Backlund ($4,400)

Calgary’s second line is coming off a solid showing against the Wild in which they helped propel the team to a 5-4 shootout victory. Gaudreau now has five points in his last three games, while Backlund has three goals and three assists in his last nine outings.Monahan saw his four-game point streak end recently, but he’s up to 34 points (14 goals) in 43 games on the year.

Monahan and Gaudreau are always a solid play when they’re together, as the two own a 52.08 CF% this season. Their line will be seeing a mix of Chicago’s top-nine lines, and none of them have been very impressive at 5-on-five this year. The Blackhawks are allowing 3.19 goals per game and Calgary is 6-1-0 in their last seven road games, so look for this Flames trio to keep the momentum rolling at the United Center tonight.

Value Stack

Nashville 3 – Rocco Grimaldi ($2,500), Nick Bonino ($4,600), Craig Smith ($3,700)

When a coach is fired, you can usually expect an inspired performance by the respective team in their first contest under a new bench boss. With Peter Laviolette being canned on Monday, the Preds third line has some nice value at home against Boston tonight in their first game under new head coach John Hynes.

Nashville’s third line has been one of the best possession lines in the NHL this year, recording a 61.73 CF% in over 200 minutes of ice time. Smith scored twice in his last outing against Anaheim, while Grimaldi also had a goal and an assist in that game and Bonino had two helpers. Considering the struggling Bruins have lost three straight and are trying out different second and third-line combinations, it’s hard to find better value than Nashville 3 tonight.
