DFS Lines to Target: 10/29/19

It’s a busy Tuesday night in the NHL with nine games on the main slate. Boston’s top line of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak has been-red hot and returns home to face the Sharks at TD Garden. If you’re going to spend the money on the Bruins’ heavily priced top line tonight, you need to find value elsewhere in your lineup. I’ve highlighted my my top high-priced, medium-priced, and value stacks to help you out. Best of luck!

High-Priced

Boston 1: Brad Marchand ($7,700) – Patrice Bergeron ($7,600) – David Pastrnak ($8,300)

The Bruins top line is heavily priced tonight, but it’s worth spending the money when you consider the matchup. Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak have accounted for a whopping 64% of Boston’s goals this season and are facing a San Jose team that is playing their fifth road game in eight nights. Marchand is riding a 10-game point streak, while Pastrnak has a nine-game point streak going. Bergeron has five goals and 11 points in his last 10 games. This line will also be facing a struggling Sharks goaltender in Martin Jones, who owns a lacklustre .892 save percentage this season.

This is the hottest line in the NHL and they torched Henrik Lundqvist with a combined 13 points on Sunday. They are going to slow down eventually, but I doubt that it comes at home against a San Jose team that is struggling to keep the puck out of the back of their net. Boston’s “perfection” line piles up a ton of points on the power play, but they’re also ridiculously good at 5v5. This trio has a 60 CF% and will see lots of Logan Couture and Patrick Marleau, who typically get outchanced at even strength (43 CF% together).

Medium-Priced

Dallas 2 – Alexander Radulov ($4,900), Roope Hintz ($4,500), Joe Pavelski ($4,600)

The Stars have put together an intriguing new second line with the likely hopes of getting Alexander Radulov and Joe Pavelski going. Radulov was held without a shot on goal in his last outing against Pittsburgh and has managed has just one goal and four points this season.  Joe Pavelski scored against Ottawa last week, but much like Radulov, he’s underperformed this season with just three points on the year. Roope Hintz is having a breakout season with six goals in his first 13 games, but he’s been held off the scoresheet in three consecutive outings.

This matchup at home against the Wild has solid breakout potential for this line. Minnesota has been one of the NHL’s worst road teams with a 1-6-1 record away from Xcel Energy Center this season. They also struggle in general defensively, allowing 3.36 goals per game. Radulov put up 72 points in back-to-back seasons and Joe Pavelski’s success in San Jose is well-documented. With the energy and speed that Hintz brings to this line, I think the other two guys could get on the scoresheet tonight. Even if this unit doesn’t instantly click at even-strength, all three players in this stack see power-play time and should produce against a below-average Wild penalty kill.

Value Stack

Anaheim 1 –  Nick Ritchie ($3,400), Ryan Getzlaf ($5,200), Max Comtois ($2,800)

If you’re going to spend a large chunk of your salary cap on Boston’s top line tonight, you need to find value elsewhere in this slate. Anaheim top line is priced nicely and has a good matchup going up against Winnipeg’s top two lines. Getzlaf has scored three times in his last four games, while Ritchie and Comtois are both riding three-game point streaks. Comtois had scored twice in that span, while Ritchie has picked up three assists.

This is a big line that should wear down Winnipeg’s inexperienced blueline that is feeling the losses of Tyler Myers, Dustin Byfuglien, Jacob Trouba, Ben Chiarot and Brandon Tanev. The Jets also enter this game with the worst penalty kill percentage (64%) in the entire league. The Ducks power play has been a weak spot for the team in an otherwise decent start to the season. With all three players in this stack clicking at even-strength and playing on the first power-play unit, I like their chances of breaking out with the man advantage tonight.
