DFS Value Plays: August 26th

Centres
Charlie Coyle (BOS) — $3,800
Outside of the Bruins big-3 of @Patrice Bergeron, @David Pastrnak and @Brad Marchand, Coyle has been the Bruins best forward in the first two games of this series. Coyle leads all Bruins’ forwards in on-ice xGF% through two games and has seen consistent minutes throughout the postseason. At $3,800, Coyle has a chance to get on the scoreboard when he’s on the ice versus Tampa Bay’s second line, which has had a tough time since the re-start. Since the start of the Carolina series, Coyle has three goals and one assist while averaging a steady 2.0 shots and 0.9 blocked shots per game, so he has a half-decent floor with goal-scoring upside.
Yanni Gourde (TBL) — $2,800
With the Lightning and Bruins on a back-to-back, I get to talk about Gourde on back-to-back days. He was one of my value plays at $2,900 last night and he picked on one assist and three shots for 9.5 DK Points and his price actually dropped by $100. Tampa Bay’s third-line has terrific underlying numbers, averaging 32.3 Scoring Chances For/60, which is close to TBL1’s 33.5 SCF/60 and they come significantly cheaper. Whether you want to full-stack TBL3 with a high-priced line or use Gourde as a one-off value play at the bottom of your lineup, he’s a good play at $2,800. In his last four games, he has one goal and two assists while averaging 3.5 shots and 10.6 DK Points per game.
Wingers
Ondrej Kase (BOS) — $3,800
Kase is another player I wrote-up as a value play yesterday as well but he did not have as much success as Gourde. Kase had just one shot (1.5 DK Points) because BOS2 had their worst game of the playoffs. Their underlying numbers have been excellent throughout the postseason, so there’s a good chance they have a bounce-back game on Wednesday. In the series, Kase is second behind only Pastrnak, in individual Scoring Chances For at 5v5.
Joel Farabee (PHI) — $3,400
It’s unclear whether or not the Flyers will shuffle their lines this afternoon but one line that shouldn’t change if PHI2. The Farabee, @Kevin Hayes and @Travis Konecny trio had a great Game 1, posting a 65.7 CorsiFor% and 65.0 SCF% while leading the team in ice-time. With the top player in Philadelphia struggling, PHI2 is essentially their top-line right now and Farabee comes at a great price on Wednesday. In addition to being heavily utilized at 5v5, Farabee is also on the top power-play unit.
Defensemen
Kevin Shattenkirk (TBL) — $3,000
With @Ryan McDonagh missing Game 2, the Lightning shuffled their D-pairs and that included Shattenkirk playing alongside @Victor Hedman at 5v5. Shattenkirk had a great game, picking up an assist, three shots and one blocked shot for 10.8 DK Points. Shattenkirk is now riding a four-game point streak, posting one goal, three assists, six shots and four blocks during that stretch–10.2 DK Points per game. If you can’t afford Hedman, Shattenkirk is a cheap option to get exposure to the Lightning’s top-line and top defenseman.
Jamie Oleksiak (DAL) — $2,800
Oleksiak has been one of my favourite D punts throughout the postseason and he has often paid off. Oleksiak plays heavy minutes (21:44 TOI/gm) next to @Miro Heiskanen, giving him plenty of opportunities to pick up shots and blocked shots. Throughout the postseason, he has averaged 1.9 shots and 1.8 blocked shots per game. But most impressively, he has already matched his regular-season goal total (3) and has five points in 11 games overall.
