It looks like we have a new No. 1 netminder in the Alberta capital.

When speaking to the media, Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch revealed that goaltender Connor Ingram will be in net on Sunday, when the Oilers host the Nashville Predators.

Knobluach also mentioned that Ingram will be the team’s starting goaltender for the near future.

It will be the fourth time in the past five Edmonton games, and seventh in the past nine, that Ingram has received the go call. During that stretch, the Oilers have earned four wins and points in five of Ingram’s past six starts. The only game where the 28-year-old didn’t earn a decision was last Tuesday, when he was knocked out of the game against the Colorado Avalanche following a collision with Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon.

Ingram’s recent stretch of starts comes after fellow netminder Tristan Jarry has struggled. The Oilers acquired the veteran backstop from the Pittsburgh Penguins this past December, hoping he could provide some stability. However, Jarry’s performances have been underwhelming, and reports that he and his teammates haven’t meshed have further driven home the concern that the trade to get rid of Stuart Skinner might not have been worth it after all.

Yet, Ingram has been steady as Edmonton stays in the playoff race. The Saskatoon native was acquired by the Oilers from the Utah Mammoth right before the regular season for future considerations. After starting the 2025-26 season with Edmonton’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, Ingram has been part of the big club’s roster since before the holiday break.

In 20 appearances this year, Ingram has a record of 9-6-2, with a 2.79 goals-against average, a .891 save percentage and a shutout.

The Oilers (32-26-9) are third in the Pacific Division, three points back of the Vegas Golden Knights for first.
