The Hammaro, Sweden product played four seasons with UMass Lowell River Hawks in the NCAA. During his senior year, the captain registered 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 36 games. Throughout his four seasons as a member of the River Hawks, he appeared in 114 games registering 36 goals and 53 assists for 89 points.
Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis weighed in on the signing, “Berglund is a skilled 200-foot forward that I’m surprised didn’t get picked back in 2020, even as a late-round pick,” Ellis said. “He has good size, is reliable in his own zone and moves well. We didn’t see huge progression throughout his college career, but his frame and defensive play should be enough to earn a call-up somewhere down the line.”
Prior to coming over to North America, Berglund played two seasons in Sweden’s top junior league, the J20 SuperElit and tallied 20 points in 27 games in 2018-19. That same year, Berglund made his journey to the United States and played for the Sioux Falls Stampede. He scored five goals and 16 points in 37 games, along with two goals and four points in 10 playoff games to help the club capture the Clark Cup title. Berglund attended the New York Rangers development camp in the summer of 2022 but was released.
