Ex-GM Patrik Allvin officially leaves Canucks

Patrik Allvin had already been relieved of his duties as the Vancouver Canucks‘ general manager, and now he will be leaving the organization entirely.
According the Darren Dreger, Allvin is officially parting ways with the Canucks despite there having been some thought that he would remain with Vancouver in another capacity.
Patrik Allvin is officially leaving the Vancouver Canucks. There was a lingering sense he might consider another role within the organization. Allvin is well respected throughout the hockey community and will have opportunities.
Allvin, 51, was fired as the Canucks’ GM shortly after the completion of Vancouver’s regular season, in which they finshed dead last in the NHL with 58 points. Jim Rutherford then announced that he would be stepping down as the team’s president of hockey operations. On May 14th, the Canucks announced franchise legends Henrik and Daniel Sedin as the team’s new co-presidents of hockey operations, and Ryan Johnson as the new GM.
Allvin was initially hired as Vancouver’s GM in January of 2022, and had previously been with the Pittsburgh Penguins for 16 years, first serving as a European scout and director of amateur scouting before eventually becoming their assistant GM and even interim GM following the departure of Rutherford, who had been the GM Allvin was working under at the time. He also worked as a European scout for the Montreal Canadiens between 2002 and 2006.
He also had an eight-year career as a professional hockey player, spanning from 1994 to 2002. He played mostly in the minor leagues in his home country of Sweden, though he did play a total of 110 games in the ECHL, split between the Nashville Knights and the Pensacola Ice Pilots. He also played 46 games in the 1999-2000 season for Leksands IF of the top-tier Swedish Elite League, which was later renamed the Swedish Hockey League.
Allvin could pursue a role as an assistant GM in the NHL, and his background in European and amateur scouting would at least make him a valuable addition to an organization in a similar capacity.
