Expect nothing short of a wild Game 5 between Kings, Oilers

In what has already been a strange but interesting series, the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings are set for an important battle on Tuesday night.
In terms of the analytical numbers, the Kings have been the better team. However, the series returns to Hollywood level at two games apiece thanks to Los Angeles’ inability to finish. The Kings won their first two contests at home, though they almost blew a multi-goal lead in Game 1. Then, despite playing two excellent periods in each game in Edmonton, the Kings allowed the Oilers to come back. The Oilers scored four unanswered goals in the third to win in Game 3, before erasing a 3-1 deficit to win Game 4 in overtime.
All this to say, with both teams two wins from the Pacific Division Final, all bets are off about who has the advantage heading into Monday night.
On Tuesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk get teed up for an entertaining battle for Game 5.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Even if [the Kings] lead this game after 40 minutes, is anyone sitting there feeling comfortable in Los Angeles? So, I really don’t know what we’re going to see in game five between these two tonight.
Frank Seravalli: How would you know? I mean, you couldn’t have predicted the way that this series has played out from any fashion to this point, maybe outside of the Oilers and their goaltending struggling. Other than that, the comebacks, the way L.A. has dominated huge stretches of this series. The way the Oilers have dominated the third period and overtime. It’s almost, within each game, it’s like, ‘Alright, you guys, the Kings, you’re allowed to have the first 50 minutes. And then after that, we’re going to own the rest and however long that takes.’ That’s a really powerful spell to cast if you’re the Oilers because so many playoff games are decided in that fashion. It’s hard to bet against 97 and 29 and the consistent production that we’ve seen from them.
Tyler: This series has been wildly entertaining, and I think part of it is both these teams are very flawed, but they’re flawed in ways that like mirror each other. Edmonton can’t get a big save. The Kings are very opportunistic. The Kings like to sit back and protect leads and you can’t do that against the Edmonton Oilers. So, it’ll be a matter of whoever can respond first here.
