Trying to decide which goalies to start is a dilemma that Fantasy Hockey owners face daily.
We here at DailyFaceoff try to make being a Fantasy Owner as easy as possible. Each day, we will rank the day’s starting goalies based on their Projected Win%, Goals Against Average, and SV%. Win percentage and expected goals against are generated from Sportsbooks Odds and Implied Totals.
In addition to the Starting Goalies Rankings table, we will have a write-up about the best streaming options for that day (if any).

Jaroslav Halak (NYR vs. OTT) – 19% Rostered
Halak grades out as the best spot-start option tonight, but he’s risky, as he goes up against a Senators team that is heating up offensively and just added Jakob Chychrun to their blueline. Halak could earn you the W tonight but do damage to your splits at the same time. He’s played very well since losing his first six starts of the season, going 8-2-1 with a .914 SV% in his last 11 starts.
Matt Murray (DAL @ CHI) – 1% Rostered
The Stars are on a back-to-back, Jake Oettinger started last night, and Scott Wedgewood is hurt, so Murray could make his NHL debut on Thursday. It would be a dream matchup for your NHL debut, as the Blackhawks have been selling off pieces left and right and could send Max Domi to the visitor’s dressing room before puck drop. Murray has played very well in the AHL, posting a .917 SV% in the last two seasons. If you can wait for an announcement on him starting (still unconfirmed as of 5:45 PM ET), he would be the best spot-start option of the evening.
