Streaming Targets 🎯
Logan Thompson (VGK) – @ SJS (66% Owned)
Being owned in two-thirds of leagues, it is unlikely that Thompson will be available to you but if he is, he is undoubtedly the best streaming target tonight. In 37 games last season (21-13-3), Thompson posted a 2.65 GAA and .915 SV% along with two shutouts.
Adin Hill (72%) had a strong performance in the opening matchup for the Vegas Golden Knights, saving 32 of 33 shots in a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken. The fact that the Golden Knights are immediately turning to Thompson indicates they will likely have a fairly even split between the two netminders all season. If Thompson (or Hill) is available in your league and owning a timeshare goaltender on a strong team carries value in your fantasy format, consider adding him to your roster beyond just tonight.
Elvis Merzlinkins (CBJ) – vs. PHI (19% Owned)
Merzlinkins is coming off a forgettable season in which he posted a league-worst (minimum 10 starts) 4.23 GAA and .876 SV% in 30 games (7-18-2). He will hope to return closer to his fantastic 2019-20 rookie totals where he recorded a 2.35 GAA and .923 SV% in 33 games (13-9-8).
The underlying talent is there with Merzlinkins but whether or not he can showcase it consistently remains to be seen. That said, he will have the opportunity to get his season started on the right foot as the Blue Jackets are -107 home favourites in their season-opener against the Philadelphia Flyers. Merzlinkins is far from a sure thing tonight but he won’t get many better opportunities to right the ship than he will against a Flyers team that ranked 29th offensively last season, averaging only 2.68 goals per game.
