Trying to decide which goalies to start is a dilemma that Fantasy Hockey owners face daily.
We here at DailyFaceoff try to make being a Fantasy Owner as easy as possible. Each day, we will rank the day’s starting goalies based on their Projected Win%, Goals Against Average, and SV%. Win percentage and expected goals against are generated from Sportsbooks Odds and Implied Totals.
In addition to the Starting Goalies Rankings table, we will have a write-up about the best streaming options for that day (if any).

Pavel Francouz (COL) – 57% Owned
Francouz seems to be the best of the below-average streaming options available on Thursday. The 32-year-old doesn’t draw the best matchup as the Avalanche are on the second game of a back-to-back and playing against the Flames, who placed sixth in goals for in 2021-22 (291). The netminder still gives you a chance to recover some goalie stats and potentially steal a win, as it is never a bad play to take the Stanley Cup Champions goaltender on any given night. Francouz may sneakily excel as Calgary enjoyed a huge lineup shuffle in the offseason, which could take some time to gel.
Mackenzie Blackwood (NJD) – 8% Owned
Blackwood is the widely available option that makes a solid streaming play as the Devils head to Philadelphia to face the lowly Flyers, who are without Sean Couturier, Ryan Ellis and Rasmus Ristolainen in their opener. Blackwood has shown signs of promise throughout his career, amassing a .916 SV% throughout his first 70 career games from 2018-20. Things have taken a turn for the worse in recent years, but opening night offers a matchup that should help get things started on the right track in 2022-23.
