Fantasy Hockey Streaming Targets: Week 14

It’s a typical week in the NHL with Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday serving as the league’s busiest nights. To get the most value out of your streamers this week, you need to target teams playing on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday. Below I’ve gone over the teams with the most streaming value this week, highlighting some of the best available options. Good luck!

Toronto Maple Leafs

It’s a slow week for the Leafs with just three games on the schedule, but luckily for us, those games fall on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday. Any Leaf you can find on the wire today will instantly add 3 games to your weekly total.

The Leafs’ popularity naturally inflates their fantasy ownership, but they do have some top-nine pieces that are still widely available. First on that list is @Zach Hyman. The longtime Babcock favourite has made an equally strong impression on Sheldon Keefe, and his usage reflects that. Hyman is currently skating with @Auston Matthews and @Mitch Marner on the Leafs top line. From a fantasy perspective, he couldn’t be in a better spot, and it’s already translated to some strong offensive numbers. In the 26 games he’s played since returning from injury, Hyman’s registered 10 goals and six assists while playing over 18 minutes a night. He’s currently owned in 26% of Yahoo! leagues.

Should Hyman be unavailable, feel free to turn your attention to @Alexander Kerfoot. He’s available in 92% of leagues despite the fact that he’s playing with @John Tavares and @William Nylander on Toronto’s second line. He’s looked particularly strong of late, picking up 1 goal and three assists in his last five games while averaging just under 17 minutes a night. Kerfoot also offers triple-position eligibility on Yahoo!, giving him a bit of staying power in deeper leagues.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets own perhaps the most streamer-friendly schedule this week with four games on tap. They play on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, meaning you’re looking at 3-4 additional games by picking up a Jet. Unfortunately for us streaming fanatics, Winnipeg’s top-heavy offense leaves us without a lot of options, but there is one player worth mentioning here. @Jack Roslovic (2% owned) is the only current member of the Jets’ top-six with sub-75% ownership. He skates with @Blake Wheeler and @Nikolaj Ehlers at 5v5, and also plays on the second power-play unit. His production is inconsistent and fleeting at times, but Roslovic’s schedule and usage are enough to put him on the streaming radar this week. He carries centre and right-wing eligibility in Yahoo! leagues.

Weekend Streamers

Winnipeg and Toronto are the only teams playing on three of the league’s slower nights, but Pittsburgh and Detroit are worth targeting later in the week. Both teams possess the ideal schedule for weekend streaming with games on Friday and Sunday. You’ll want to monitor the lines as the week develops, but as of now, @Jared McCann looks like the best bet you can make this weekend. He’s done an admirable job filling in as the Penguins’ second-line centre, but most of his potential value stems from the power-play. McCann is skating on the Penguins top PP unit, alongside the likes @Evgeni Malkin and @Kris Letang. He is currently available in 76% of leagues.

In deeper leagues, @Dominik Kahun and @Robby Fabbri are strong weekend plays. Both are available in over 90% of leagues despite skating on their respective teams’ top-line. Fabbri is also an integral part of the Red Wings power-play, giving him slightly more upside than Kahun.
