Fantasy Hockey: Week 16 Streaming Targets 🎯

Using both our Weekly Schedule tool and the newly created Weekly Strength of Schedule Tool, I have identified which teams are the best to target for streaming players this week.

Below you will find some of the top streaming options for the week under 50 percent owned in Yahoo! fantasy leagues. Streaming a roster spot or two can help you maximize the number of games each week and increase your chances of winning the week.

Because of the All-Star break and re-scheduling games during the “Olympic break,” the schedule for Week 16 is all over the place. Traditionally, I try to identify players with a lot of games on the lighter nights (MON, WED, FRI, SUN) but only one of the 14 days has 10-plus games this week. As a result, we’re looking for players who have the most games because you should have no issues getting them into your lineup on any given night (besides Tuesday, February 1st).

Tim Stützle – OTT – C/LW (35% Owned)

The Senators have a league-high six games in Week 16. They play on Tuesday, so you may only get five games out of StĂĽtzle. Ottawa has the toughest schedule but six games make StĂĽtzle worth considering. With both Josh Norris and Drake Batheron out, StĂĽtzle has moved up to the top line with Brady Tkachuk and continues to skate on PP1. Dating back to the start of December, StĂĽtzle has scored six goals with six assists (12 points) in 16 games.

Mikael Backlund – CGY – C/RW (12% Owned)

The Flames have five games but play on Tuesday, so you may want to wait to add Backlund until Wednesday when they visit the Coyotes. Backlund is coming off of a terrific week, scoring two goals with one assist, but it’s his 24 shots on goal that really sticks out. Backlund is locked into a guaranteed role and will have another big week if he keeps firing 6.0 shots per game.

Kailer Yamamoto – EDM – RW (5% Owned)

The Oilers do not play on Tuesday, so you’ll get all five games from Yamamoto this week. His first 28 games were very disappointing, recording just six points (5G / 1A). He’s starting to heat up now, registering nine points (3G / 6A) in his last 12 games. He’s currently skating on a new-look line with Connor McDavid and Evander Kane, so he should be able to stay hot.

Brock Nelson – NYI – C (18% Owned)

The Islanders are another team with five games but play on Tuesday. As a centre-only eligible player, you’ll probably only get four games out of Nelson. He’s quietly scored 14 goals in 28 games this season, ranking in the top-20 in the NHL in Goals/60 (1.72). He enters Week 16 with eight points (4G / 4A) in his last seven games.

Michael Bunting – TOR – LW (22% Owned)

Bunting continues to skate on a line with Auston Matthews, giving him plenty of appeal during the Maple Leafs’ five-game week. Bunting had a hat-trick in Detroit on Saturday, giving him eight points (5G / 3A) in his last eight games. On the year, he has 27 points (12G / 15A) in 40 games.

Boone Jenner – CBJ – C/LW (45% Owned)

Jenner was on the streaming targets list last week and scored two goals with one assist, eight shots and six hits. You’ll be able to get four games out of Jenner this week and the Blue Jackets have the third-easiest schedule of the week. Jenner has 10 points (6G / 4A) in his last 10 games.

Dylan Strome – CHI – C/RW (13% Owned)
Brandon Hagel – CHI – C (3% Owned)

The Blackhawks’ duo is currently skating on the top line together alongside Patrick Kane. Strome has been buried on the depth chart most of the season but has made the most of his top-line role as of late. He had a hat-trick in Detroit last week and suddenly has 11 points (4G / 7A) in his last nine games.

Hagel was nearly as productive as Strome last week, with three goals and done assist in three games. In total, he has eight points (5G / 3A) in his last eight games.

You should be able to get four games out of Strome and/or Hagel this week.
