Fantasy Hockey: Weekly Strength of Schedule and Streaming Targets — Week 23

Identifying the players with four games each week and filling your roster with those players can increase your chances of winning your fantasy hockey matchup. That’s why our Weekly Schedule tool is so helpful!

I took that weekly schedule and combined it with a Team Defense Score I created using key defensive metrics to find which teams/skaters have the best schedule this week.

ARTICLE PRESENTED BY BETWAY

How it Works:

  • Team Defensive Ratings are given on a scale of 0-100, with 0 being the best possible defensive team and 100 being the worst. For context, CBJ currently grades as the worst defensively, with a rating of 92.16. Carolina is the best, with a rating of 12.46.
  • SCORE: The sum of all of the Defensive Ratings that the team will face this week.
  • AVG Opponent: The Average Defensive Ratings that the team will face this week.
  • Strength of Schedule is determined by the sum of defensive ratings, because we want players that play the most games but also have the easiest matchups.
  • Light Nights: A night in the NHL with eight or fewer games.

Week 23 – Strength of Schedule

Week 23 Opponent Ratings

Team Ratings are based solely on defensive metrics and goaltending quality in order to identify the best matchups for skaters. They are in no way a reflection of overall team quality. The lower the rating, the better the team is defensively = worse skater matchup.

Week 23 Streaming Targets

Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning have a West Coast road trip this week, and it grades out as the easiest schedule of the week. However, they do not have any ‘Light Night’ games, so you have to plan ahead and make sure that you can fit their streamers in your lineup.

Streaming Targets:

  • Anthony Duclair (LW) – 20% Rostered
  • Nicholas Paul (C/LW) – 12% Rostered
  • Anthony Cirelli (C) – 4% Rostered

Seattle Kraken

The Kraken have the second-easiest schedule this week, and it’s not much more difficult than the Lightning’s, and they have two ‘Light Night’ games, making them much easier to stream. They are also loaded with streaming targets.

Streaming Targets:

  • Jordan Eberle (RW) – 31% Rostered
  • Oliver Bjorkstrand (RW) – 31% Rostered
  • Matty Beniers (C) – 27% Rostered
  • Yanni Gourde (C) – 7% Rostered
  • Tomas Tatar (LW/RW) – 4% Rostered
  • Andre Burakovsky (LW/RW) – 2% Rostered

Dallas Stars

Dallas have the easiest Average Opponent Rating this week, with two games against the Coyotes. The only negative, is they have only three games, but two of them are on ‘Light Nights.’

Streaming Targets:

  • Wyatt Johnston (C/RW) – 60% Rostered
  • Mason Marchment (LW) – 35% Rostered
  • Logan Stankoven (C/RW) – 17% Rostered

Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton is another team that has zero ‘Light Night’ games this week but a very favourable schedule and some low-owned players skating alongside Leon Draisaitl.

Streaming Targets:

  • Warren Foegele (LW/RW) – 7% Rostered
  • Ryan McLeod (C) – 1% Rostered

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes’ schedule is very similar to the Oilers, and one of their games is on a ‘Light Night.’ They’ve had some lower-owned players emerge recently.

Streaming Targets:

  • Evgeny Kuznetsov (C) – 23% Rostered

Washington Capitals

The Capitals are all the way down at 19th on the Schedule Rating, but they are the only team with games on all three of the ‘Light Nights’ this week. So they’re worth considering for that reason.

Streaming Targets:

  • Tom Wilson (RW) – 46% Rostered
  • Dylan Strome (C) – 38% Rostered
  • T.J. Oshie (RW) – 14% Rostered
  • Max Pacioretty (LW) – 11% Rostered
  • Connor McMichael (C) – 6% Rostered
  • Hendrix Lapierre (C) – 2% Rostered
