Fantasy Hockey: Weekly Strength of Schedule and Streaming Targets — Week 25

Identifying the players with four games each week and filling your roster with those players can increase your chances of winning your fantasy hockey matchup. That’s why our Weekly Schedule tool is so helpful!

I took that weekly schedule and combined it with a Team Defense Score I created using key defensive metrics to find which teams/skaters have the best schedule this week.

ARTICLE PRESENTED BY BETWAY

How it Works:

  • Team Defensive Ratings are given on a scale of 0-100, with 0 being the best possible defensive team and 100 being the worst. For context, CBJ currently grades as the worst defensively, with a rating of 92.16. Carolina is the best, with a rating of 12.46.
  • SCORE: The sum of all of the Defensive Ratings that the team will face this week.
  • AVG Opponent: The Average Defensive Ratings that the team will face this week.
  • Strength of Schedule is determined by the sum of defensive ratings, because we want players that play the most games but also have the easiest matchups.
  • Light Nights: A night in the NHL with eight or fewer games.

Week 25 – Strength of Schedule

Week 25 Opponent Ratings

Team Ratings are based solely on defensive metrics and goaltending quality in order to identify the best matchups for skaters. They are in no way a reflection of overall team quality. The lower the rating, the better the team is defensively = worse skater matchup.

Week 25 Streaming Targets

Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning have by far the easiest schedule this week, starting with a plus matchup against the Red Wings on Monday. Games in Montreal and Pittsburgh in the second half of the week should make them a worthwhile week-long stream.

  • Anthony Duclair (LW) – 33% Rostered
  • Nick Paul (C/LW) – 12% Rostered
  • Anthony Cirelli (C) – 6% Rostered

New York Rangers

The Rangers have a nearly identical schedule to the Lightning. They have three ‘Light Night’ games this week, which will make them a little easier to stream, but they don’t have many great targets. If Lafrenière is available, he’s the top option of the week.

  • Alexis Lafrenière (LW/RW) – 53% Rostered
  • Jack Roslovic (C/RW) – 5% Rostered

St. Louis Blues

The Blues have a great schedule, but their two most favourable matchups are on Saturday (@SJS) and Sunday (@ANA), so they might be best used as weekend streaming targets.

  • Brayden Schenn (C/LW) – 31% Rostered
  • Jake Neighbours (LW/RW) – 28% Rostered
  • Brandon Saad (LW) – 2% Rostered

New York Islanders

The Islanders’ schedule perfectly compliments the Blues this week. They have three great matchups to start the week, Monday (@PHI), Tuesday (CHI) and Thursday (@CBJ). You could maximize your games played this week by streaming the Islanders early in the week and dropping them for the Blues on the weekend.

  • Anders Lee (LW) – 28% Rostered
  • Kyle Palmieri (RW) – 16% Rostered
  • Jean-Gabriel Pageau (C) – 7% Rostered

Florida Panthers

Similar to the Islanders, they have three games in the first four days of the week. Their matchups (@TOR, @MTL and @OTT) are also great, just slightly less favourable.

  • Vladimir Tarasenko (LW/RW) – 52% Rostered
  • Sam Bennett (C) – 31% Rostered
  • Evan Rodrigues (C/LW/RW) – 23% Rostered
  • Anton Lundell (C) – 3% Rostered
