Fantasy news and notes: Matt Dumba to the IR and Kris Letang day-to-day

Two big-name defencemen will be out of the lineup Monday night as Matt Dumba was placed on the injured reserve and Kris Letang is listed as out.

Dumba was injured in the third period of a Saturday night loss to the Avalanche after being hit by Wild forward Jordan Greenway.

“You guys all saw it. Obviously doesn’t look good, but who knows how long (he’ll be out),” Wild bench boss Dean Evason said.

Letang, meanwhile, is day-to-day with what’s being called a lower-body injury.

“Kris will not play tonight,” Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan said. “His status is day-to-day. He is still being evaluated.”

There are two in-house options available with Jonas Brodin (6% owned) and John Marino (8% owned) are both expected to see increased usage. Marino is especially a favourable play as he will see time on the Penguins first powerplay unit.

Other options include New Jersey Devils defenceman Ty Smith (445 owned) and Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson (29% owned).

Smith has been off to a hot start this season scoring two goals and six assists in nine games in his rookie NHL season.

Andersson, meanwhile, is on the top pairing for the Flames alongside Mark Giordano, also running the point for Calgary. He’s scored two goals and five points in seven games this season.
