Finland unveils men’s roster for 2026 Winter Olympics

Team Finland revealed its men’s ice hockey roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina on Wednesday, as the Finns look to defend their gold medal from the 2022 Olympics in the return of NHL players to the competition.
In 2022, Finland defeated Switzerland in the gold medal game to capture the first gold in the nation’s history in men’s Olympic ice hockey history. Former NHL players like Valtteri Filppula Markus Granlund, Sami Vatanen, Leo Komarov, Saku Maenalanen, and others were key pieces of that roster. In 2014, the last time NHL players were involved in the Winter Olympics, Finland blanked the USA 5-0 to claim the bronze medal.
The Finns also participated in the 4 Nations Face-Off in February, losing 5-3 to Canada and 6-1 to the United States, but they did defeat rival Sweden in a 4-3 overtime thriller at Centre Bell.
Here’s the star-studded roster that will take the ice for Finland in Milan in February:
Forwards: Sebastian Aho, Joel Armia, Mikael Granlund, Erik Haula, Roope Hintz, Kaapo Kakko, Oliver Kapanen, Joel Kiviranta, Artturi Lehkonen, Anton Lundell, Eeuto Luostarinen, Mikko Rantanen, Teuvo Teravainen, Eeli Tolvanen
Defensemen: Miro Heiskanen, Henri Jokiharju, Mikko Lehtonen, Esa Lindell, Olli Maatta, Nikolas Matinpalo, Nikko Mikkola, Rasmus Ristolainen
Goalies: Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Kevin Lankinen, Juuse Saros
Finland will be without its first-line center from the 4 Nations Face-Off, as Florida Panthers star Aleksander Barkov has missed the entire NHL regular season to this point with a lower-body injury.
Team Finland’s schedule for the group stage games is as follows:
- Wednesday, February 11: Slovakia vs. Finland – 10:00 AM ET
- Friday, February 13: Finland vs. Sweden – 6:10 AM ET
- Saturday, February 14: Finland vs. Italy – 10:40 AM ET
The qualification round will take place on February 17 followed by the quarterfinals on February 18. There will then be a rest day before the semifinals on February 20. The bronze medal game will be held on February 21, and the gold medal game will take place on February 22.
