Here’s something you don’t see every day.

News broke on Thursday that Minnesota Frost forward Kelly Pannek was involved in a car accident earlier this month. A famous figure in pop culture is taking to social media to help get the U.S. Olympian a new ride.

Rap star and former co-frontman of Public Enemy, Flavor Flav, went on X to ask if any of the big auto companies could help the two-time gold medalist out.

“This one is for a real need, and Imma hopeful that an auto company gonna step up,” Flavor Flav wrote. “Kelly Pannek from the women’s hockey team got hit by someone who totaled her car. She needs a new car. Lots of brands commenting that they want to help, but few truly stepping up. Who can help??”

Mr. Flav certainly shot his shot, tagging every automoblie manufacture from GM to Honda, hoping that someone is willing to help out one of the top players in the PWHL.

The accident occurred before Pannek left Minnesota for Milan, according to sources.

Flavor Flav’s support for the U.S. women’s team can be traced back to the Milano-Cortina Olympics. After the women’s team won gold, he invited them out to Las Vegas this summer to celebrate their accomplishment. The invite came in the wake of both the men’s and women’s hockey teams being invited to Washington, D.C. by President Donald Trump, which the women’s team declined “due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments,” according to a USA Hockey spokesperson.

According to multiple reports, the women’s squad has agreed to appear at the ‘She Got Game’ weekend in Las Vegas from July 16-19.

Flavor Flav also earned acclaim a couple of years ago in the lead-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he was an avid supporter of the U.S. women’s water polo team that made it to the semifinals.

Pannek posted a pair of assists in seven games during the Olympics, helping Team USA beat Canada to win gold for the third time in its history, and first since the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics.
