Florida Panthers acquire Sam Reinhart from Buffalo Sabres

The Florida Panthers have acquired RFA winger Sam Reinhart from the Buffalo Sabres.

Part of the return is believed to include goaltender Devon Levi, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Friday night. Other elements of the deal are not yet known.

Reinhart, 25, was drafted by the Sabres 2nd overall in the 2014 draft and has scored 134 goals and 295 points in 454 career games.

Despite the struggles of the Sabres organization, Reinhart has continued to be a strong offensive weapon for the team. This past year he scored 25 goals — tying his career-high — and 40 points in 54 games.

Those 25 goals were good enough for a tie for 10th in the league, a noble feat. His most common linemates this season were Victor Olofsson and Taylor Hall.

According to hockeyviz.com, Reinhart provided even-strength offence at a two percent rate below league average and defence at a four percent rate above league average.
