Is Brad Marchand a lock for the Hockey Hall of Fame?

With one of the top players in the game reaching the milestone, the question about his Hockey Hall of Fame candidacy has arisen again.
On Thursday night, Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand recorded the 1,000th point of his NHL career, becoming the 102nd player in league history to reach the milestone.
With him hitting a notable mark, expressing his longevity as one of the more effective players in the game for well over a decade, it begs the question – is Marchand a lock for the Hall of Fame?
He’s a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning with the Boston Bruins in 2011 as well as the Panthers this past spring, and has also had success on the international stage with Team Canada.
On Friday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton discuss whether Marchand is a contender to be enshrined in Toronto.
Tyler Yaremchuk: I think he’s a lock, honestly. He’s got a 100-point season under his belt; not a lot of guys can do that. He’s gonna finish top-100 in scoring, let’s say, two more years, three more years…I should say average 50 points a season, that gets him almost into the top 50 all-time in points. I think that’s good enough. He’s got the winning on his resume.
There’s something I talked about with Jeff Maek the other day on OilersNation Everyday, where he kind of said, emphasize the “fame” part of the Hall of Fame. Is Brad Marchand one of the players who defines an era of the NHL? I absolutely think he does. So, he checks a whole bunch of individual accomplishment boxes…He is a famous hockey player, and to me, that matters a little bit. You can’t just put a bunch of scrubs who were you know borderline whatever in there because you liked them and they were good guys, but for a guy like Marchand who has all the individual accolades who has Team Canada experience, Stanley Cup rings, all that stuff, and on top of that he’s one of the most famous players of his era, he absolutely gets in. Borderline first ballot for me.
