Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand exited early from Thursday’s game against the St. Louis Blues and did not play in the third period after sustaining an undisclosed injury.

Marchand, 37, logged 11:19 of ice time over 12 shifts in the first two periods of Thursday’s game at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. The Blues ultimately defeated the Panthers by a 5-4 final score.

Speaking after the game, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice told reporters that Marchand will be assessed by the team’s staff “tonight and tomorrow.” The 5’9″ winger previously missed seven games earlier in January with another unspecified injury.

Through 45 games with the Panthers this season, Marchand ranks second on the team with 25 goals and 50 points. The Halifax-born winger joined the Panthers from the Boston Bruins at the 2025 trade deadline and won the Stanley Cup with the club later the same year.

A third-round pick (No. 71 overall) of the Bruins in the 2006 NHL Draft, Marchand eventually made his NHL debut with Boston in the 2009-10 season after successful tenures in the QMJHL and AHL. He emerged as a premier agitator and secondary scorer with the Bruins in the 2010-11 season, playing a pivotal role in the club capturing its first Stanley Cup championship since 1972.

Marchand gradually developed into a star winger over his tenure with the Bruins, notably playing on a line with Sidney Crosby and Patrice Bergeron with Team Canada at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. He scored 100 points with the Bruins in the 2018-19 season and helped them return to the Stanley Cup Final that year, having also previously done so in 2013.

Shortly after Marchand represented Canada again at the 4 Nations Face-Off, the Bruins traded him to Florida in exchange for a future first-round pick. Marchand scored 10 goals and 20 points in 23 playoff games as the Panthers won their first-ever title. As a pending unrestricted free agent that summer, Marchand signed a six-year, $5.25 million-AAV extension to keep him in Florida through 2031.

Through 1,145 career games split between the Bruins and Panthers, Marchand has collected 449 goals and 1,030 points. He’s added 66 goals and 158 points in 180 playoff contests.

Despite having won the last two Stanley Cup Finals, the Panthers currently sit outside the Eastern Conference playoff picture with a 28-22-3 record. With just 29 games remaining in the 2025-26 regular season, the Panthers are now eight points back of the Bruins for the final wild card spot in the East.
