Panthers become first NHL team to record natural hat trick in three straight games

Florida Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe recorded a natural hat trick during the team’s 8-3 win over the Seattle Kraken Saturday night.
Verhaeghe’s trio of goals made the Panthers the first team in NHL history with natural hat tricks in three consecutive games, after Brady Tkachuk recorded a natural hat trick in Florida’s previous two games.
Verhaeghe scored twice late in the first period, then again midway through the second. Panthers forward Sam Bennett also recorded a hat trick in Saturday’s game.
Now with four on the season, Florida became the first team in more than 100 years to record four or more hat tricks before its 10th game of the season (the Toronto St. Patricks, later named the Toronto Maple Leafs, had five in 1922-23).
The Panthers recorded its first of three natural hat tricks when forward Brady Tkachuk scored three straight in the second period of the team’s 7-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets last Tuesday. His brother, Matthew Tkachuk, assisted on all three goals.
On Thursday, Brady Tkachuk became the first NHLer to record back-to-back natural hat tricks in Florida’s 3-2 overtime win against the Vancouver Canucks.
The Panthers are now 5-2-2 through nine games in 2026-27. Matthew Tkatchuk leads the team with 11 assists and 14 points, while Brady Tkachuk and Verhaeghe are tied for a team-leading six goals. Defenseman Seth Jones has one goal and nine assists for 10 points.
