After signing what felt like half of the defensive free agent core on Saturday, the Florida Panthers have signed goaltender Anthony Stolarz to a one-year, $1.1 million deal.

Stolarz replaces Alex Lyon, who signed with the Detroit Red Wings earlier in the day.

The 29-year-old goaltender posted a 5-6-0 record over 19 games with the Anaheim Ducks last year, his fourth season in the league. Stolarz missed the last 30 games of the regular season due to knee surgery, but is already back to training and will be ready to go for 2022-23.

Stolarz had a strong 2021-22 campaign, going 12-8-3 with three shutouts and a .917 save percentage. Stolarz has a 27-24-7 record with six shutouts in 81 games over nine seasons with Philadelphia, Edmonton and Anaheim

The Panthers also signed forward Alex True to a one-year, $775 million deal. The 25-year-old stands tall at 6-foot-5 and is coming off of a decent 32-point season with the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds. The Danish forward had 19 points in 26 games during the playoffs, with the Firebirds losing to Hershey for the Calder Cup title.

The Panthers have $637,499 in cap space, with the chance for Stolarz to challenge Spencer Knight for the backup gig behind Sergei Bobrovsky next year.
