Florida Panthers sign forward Gerry Mayhew to one-year contract

The Florida Panthers have signed forward Gerry Mayhew to a one-year, two-way contract, the club announced Sunday afternoon.
Mayhew, 30, collected 24 goals and 44 points in 69 games with the American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers during the 2022–23 regular season. He did not record a point in five Calder Cup Playoff games.
Prior to that, Mayhew scored five goals and six points in 15 NHL games with the Anaheim Ducks during the 2021–22 season. The Wyandotte, Michigan product stands five-foot-nine and shoots right.
Mayhew’s two-way deal with the Panthers carries a $775,000 cap hit in the NHL.

Mayhew originally signed an AHL deal with the Iowa Wild in 2017 upon the conclusion of his strong four-year tenure at Ferris State University.
After spending parts of four seasons in Iowa, Mayhew made his NHL debut with the Minnesota Wild in 2019–20. He collected two goals and an assist in 17 games over his two years with Minnesota.
From there, Mayhew split the 2021–22 season between the Philadelphia Flyers and Ducks organizations, scoring 11 goals and an assist in 40 games with the two clubs. He did not play in the NHL in 2022–23.
Through 57 career NHL games with the Wild, Flyers, and Ducks, Mayhew has collected 13 goals and 15 points.
