The Florida Panthers keep on adding some depth.

On the same day that they signed J-F Berube to a contract, the Panthers signed goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick to a one-year contract. Fitzpatrick was also placed on waivers after signing the deal.

Fitzpatrick has an 8-3-0 record with the ECHL’s Florida Everblades this season. This is Fitzpatrick’s second contract with the Panthers after signing a similar one-year deal last year.

Fitzpatrick, 25, was drafted 59th overall by the St. Louis Blues in 2016 but got lost in the shuffle. He has spent most of his career in the ECHL, posting a 32-29-7 record with Florida, Greenville, Tulsa and Brampton. Fitzpatrick has a 5-3-0 record in 12 AHL games with Charlotte, Utica and San Antonio and should return to Charlotte with this new deal.

The Panthers have six goaltenders currently signed to deals. Spencer Knight is currently away from the team while in the NHL/NHLPA’s player assistance program, leaving the Panthers with Sergei Bobrovsky and Alex Lyon as the two netminders. Mack Guzda and Berube are currently with Charlotte.
