Florida Panthers sign Nikita Gusev; New Jersey Devils acquire Jonas Siegenthaler

Hours after the termination of his contract with the New Jersey Devils became official, Nikita Gusev has inked a one-year deal with the Florida Panthers.
Gusev, 28, spent a season and a half with the Devils scoring 15 goals and 49 points. This year, however, he’s only appeared in 20 games scoring five points.
According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the deal is a one-year contract paying him $1-million.
Not long after the signing, the Devils announced they acquired defeceman Jonas Siegenthaler from the Washington Capitals in exchange for Arizona’s conditional third-round pick in the 2021 draft.
Siegenthaler, 23, has appeared in 97 games over the last three season with the Capitals scoring two goals and 13 points. According to hockeyviz.com, Siegenthaler provides offence at a five percent rate below league average and provides defence at a five percent rate above league average.
He’s owed $800k against the cap and is an RFA at the end of the season.
