The Florida Panthers announced Tuesday the signing of defenseman Nolan Foote to a one-year, two-way contract.

The 24-year-old defender played seven NHL games with the New Jersey Devils in 2024-25, recording one assist. In 53 regular-season games with the Devils’ AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets, he scored 18 goals and 21 assists for 39 points, which was tied for third on the team.

Through parts of six AHL seasons, Foote has 62 goals and 67 assists for 129 points in 191 career regular-season games with the Comets and Binghamton Devils.

The 6-foot-3 defender played 30 career NHL games with the Devils, recording six goals and three assists for nine points. Taken No. 27 overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Foote was traded by the Lightning to the Devils, along with a 2020 first-round pick, in exchange for Blake Coleman.

Foote, a native of Denver, Colo., played 195 WHL games with the Kelowna Rockets. He scored 83 goals and 88 assists for 171 points. He also appeared in 21 WHL playoff games, scoring three goals and seven assists for 10 points.

The Panthers finished the 2024-25 regular season with a 47-31-4 record and 98 points, third in the Atlantic Division. In the playoffs, they defeated the Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers to win their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship. It was also the third straight year they have advanced to the Stanley Cup Final.

Forward Sam Reinhart led the team in goals and points with 39 and 81, respectively. Florida captain Aleksander Barkov led the way with 51 assists. Barkov would win the 2025 Selke Trophy and King Clancy Trophy.
