Panthers, Nosek agree to one-year contract extension

According to a report from Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, the Florida Panthers and veteran forward Tomáš Nosek have agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension.
Per LeBrun, the deal will pay Nosek $775,000 for the 2025-2026 season.
Nosek spent this past season in a depth role with Florida, appearing in 59 regular season games and scoring one goal while tallying eight assists for a total of nine points.
In the playoffs, Nosek and the Panthers went on a run to win the Stanley Cup, the team’s second title in as many years.
The native of Czechia had three assists in his 16 playoff appearances to go with a plus-4 rating. This season marked Nosek’s second appearance in a Stanley Cup Final, as he was also a member of the inaugural Vegas Golden Knights team that won the Western Conference in 2018 before falling short against Washington.
Now, Nosek joins an increasingly large group of his current teammates to take less than their market value to remain in Florida for a run at another Cup.
Last week, Sam Bennett linked an eight-year extension, and on Monday, general manager Bill Zito shocked the hockey world when he pulled off consecutive contract extensions for Aaron Ekblad (eight years) and standout veteran trade deadline acquisition Brad Marchand (six years).
Zito and his front office will have some work to do to ice a full roster that is salary cap compliant on opening night.
According to PuckPedia, the Panthers currently have nearly a complete 18-man unit of skaters under contract, along with goalie Sergei Bobrovsky locked in with $500,000 in salary cap space, but that leaves them short a forward, a backup goalie, as well as extra skaters.
Promising winger Mackie Samoskevich needs a deal as a restricted free agent as well. There are very few obvious casualties on Florida’s roster for cap savings, but winger Evan Rodrigues could be attractive to other teams with a palatable $3 million cap hit and plenty of playoff pedigree.
