The Philadelphia Flyers announced Saturday that forward Jett Luchanko has been reassigned to the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Guelph Storm.
#Flyers have sent 18-year-old Jett Luchanko back to OHL Guelph for the season after a four-game introduction to #NHL.
PHI is thrilled with their pick, he certainly exceeded expectations heading into camp, and they want him to play as many minutes in as many situations possible.

The 18-year-old Luchanko has no points and a minus-three rating through four games with the Flyers. He became the youngest player in franchise history when he stepped on to the ice for his first game at 18 years and 51 days old.
Taken No. 13 overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Luchanko dominated the OHL last season, scoring 20 goals and 54 assists for 74 points in 68 games with the Storm, leading the team in assists and points.
Last week on an episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discussed Luchanko and his future in Philadelphia.
“What the Flyers brass in Keith Jones and Danny Briere are thinking about and what they’re talking about right now is, is (staying with the club) best for the long-term future of Jett Luchanko?” Seravalli said.
The Flyers have struggled mightily to start the 2024-25 campaign, going 1-5-1 and last in both the Metropolitan Division and the Eastern Conference. On Thursday night, they lost 6-3 to the Washington Capitals.
Forward Matvei Michkov, taken No. 7 overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, has been one of the lone bright spots for a Flyers franchise is desperate need of a positive this season. Through his first seven games, the rookie winger leads the team in scoring with three goals and four assists for seven points on a top line with Philadelphia captain Sean Couturier.
It’s been a tough start for the keepers of the crease, with Samuel Ersson going 1-2-1 with an .886 save percentage (SV%) in five appearances, while fellow netminder Ivan Fedotov is 0-3-0 with an .823 SV%.
Their next game is Saturday against the Minnesota Wild. Puck drop is at 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT.
