Game between Kings, Blue Jackets postponed to March 9

The NHL announced on Monday afternoon that the game between the Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets that was scheduled for Monday night has been postponed and rescheduled for March 9.
As a large system of severe winter weather has swept through much of the Midwest and Northeast regions of United States, as well as much of Ontario, many NHL cities have been left with hazardous conditions surrounding their venues.
The game between Los Angeles and Columbus is the first to be postponed as a result of the storm. The Blue Jackets announced that tickets for tonight’s game will still be valid for the new date.
🚨 Game Update 🚨
The two clubs met just over a month ago in Southern California as the Blue Jackets dispatched the Kings 3-1 behind a 23-save performance from goaltender Jet Greaves and a two-goal night from winger Mason Marchment.
The new date of March 9 for this game fits somewhat neatly into both teams’ respective schedules. For Columbus, it will turn a three-game home stand into a four-game run. Columbus was set to be idle on March 8 and 9 after hosting Utah on the 7th. This will set up a three games in four nights scenario for the Jackets, who will fly down to Tampa Bay after the new game to take on the Lightning on the 10th.
While Columbus will be finishing up a home stand later now, Los Angeles will be kicking off a road trip sooner. The Kings host Montreal on the 7th and will visit Boston on the 10th, setting up a back-to-back with travel now on the 9th and 10th, but they’ll have the 11th and 12th off before heading to Long Island on the 13th.
Both the Kings and Blue Jackets are on the wrong side of the playoff picture in their respective conferences looking to play their way into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
At 21-16-13, Los Angeles is only out due to a tiebreaker, while Columbus is seven points back of Boston for the second wild card in the East with a record of 24-20-7. The third place spot in the Metropolitan Division looks like the easier path, as the Jackets sit just four back of the New York Islanders for that spot.
